Macsen Matthews is a horror writer from South Wales, UK. Amongst a growing list of neurospices, he is dyslexic and has Irlen’s Syndrome – a sensory perception disorder that interferes with the way the brain interprets light. If you see him wearing what looks like sunglasses while inside, this is why.
He’s been a farm hand, a holistic therapist for a charity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a high-street shop owner, the head elf in Santa’s Grotto, and a funeral arranger. Somewhere in the middle, he got his degree in Illustration for Graphic Novels at the North Wales School of Art and Design, with one of his graduate pieces going on to win the 2014 NOISE Festival award. The first chapter of Mr Grim was also shortlisted for Uncharted Magazine’s First Chapter Competition.
He contributes to Spooky Isles, one of the UK’s leading independent horror and paranormal online magazines, and is the malevolent force behind The Hawthorn Files, where he has lots of fun pretending to be a mysterious paranormal investigator, of dubious credibility and posts weekly articles exploring the paranormal.
